A walk into unknown Greece
Located at the Prefecture of Karditsa, Greece at 750 meters altitude and offers dream landscapes.
The state-of-the-art spaces of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Culture Center in Athens were flooded with visitors from Greece and abroad who attended the Nostos 2023 international conference on Mental Health.
A exciting tour in Constantinople to investigate credible information regarding the burial ground of the last Byzantine emperor Constantine Palaiologos. The information we gathered is astounding!
He pulled the anchor of the Italian flagship out of the bottom of the Aegean Sea without a diving suit, the Italians thought he had drowned, when he came up to the surface his ear was bleeding.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens houses the new Greek National Opera since 2017. This is an unsurpassed work of art of minimalist style, for which all Greeks are proud.
The image of the armoured soldiers into the islet's voluminous vegetation is impressive. They jokingly tell each other: "Let's go on patrol in Vietnam".
Today, Egrikapi is a neglected gate of the abandoned Byzantine castle and is located near Emperor Porphyrogennetos's palace. The gate's story is known to almost nobody living in modern Istanbul…
That warm day of August the sky was crystal clear in Kymi and nothing gave the wild outburst of the weather that would follow. This area is facing the open Aegean Sea. The landscape is wild, with mountains and vertical shores beside the sea. Most days of the year the sea is agitated with enormous waves, due to the strong winds.
Troubled night
After the dusk, when the weather got more calm and the wind stopped entirely blowing, everyone went out to have a lunch or for a walk at Kymi's port.
The taverns were full of people and so were the very famous patisseries of the town.
In the evening, while people were casually eating, there came a sudden strong wind which tipped over the tables and stripped out the tavern shelters.
After a while, the sky was filled with heavy clouds that were being lighted by continuous lightnings.
Every flash was revealing scenes that seemed to come out of black and white horror films, with the sea being literally crashed down by the sky.
The quiet and starry summer night had turned into a hazy battlefield within a few minutes, forcing the families to get back home in a hurry.
Morning revelation
The night was very troubled, with heavy rain and lightnings almost every second.
At the first dim light of the morning the rain had kind of subsided, but the wind kept blowing furiously.
The sticking up landscape was totally different to that of the previous day and a neighboring river had overflowed and it had become one with the sea.
The beach had been covered by water and you could see nothing but the pole of a beach umbrella springing out of the sea.
The waves were crashing and the waters were travelling a long distance until they end up to the outfall of the river.
It is a unique feeling for someone to walk on a beach that's vanishing under the foaming waters and rotating like a periscope around himself and seeing nothing but sea all around, as if he is on an island covered by the tide.
Not having any stable reporting system to help him define his exact position and feeling dizzy by the water surface surrounding him, as it keeps moving in various directions.
